I often come back to a simple question.
How can we care for the Earth outside of us, if we are not also caring for the Earth within us?
I think of it as two landscapes. The external Earth — forests, oceans, soil, air. And the internal Earth — our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, patterns, and the way we relate to ourselves.
The two are not separate. They mirror each other more than we realise.
When our internal Earth feels chaotic, disconnected, or overwhelmed, it becomes much harder to live in a way that feels steady and sustainable externally. We rush. We consume. We react. We disconnect.
But when we begin to tend to our inner world — even in small ways — something shifts. We start to slow down. We start to notice. We start to choose differently.
It doesn't begin with systems or solutions.
It begins with you. With me. With us.
Because sustainability isn't only something we apply to the planet — it's something we practise within ourselves first.
